Summary
The aim of this study is the evaluation of the relationship between the severity of atopic dermatitis (assessed by SCORAD index) and the occurrence of food allergy and food sensitisation to cow´s milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanuts, and sensitisation to mites, feather, animal dander, and dust. The complete dermatological and allergological examinations were performed and the severity of atopic dermatitis was evaluated with use of SCORAD index. The statistical evaluation of the dependence between the occurrence of food allergy, food sensitisation, sensitisation to inhalant allergens and the severity of atopic dermatitis was performed. Two hundred and eighty-three patients were examined, 89 men and 194 women, average age 26.2. The significant relation was detected between the severity of atopic dermatitis and sensitisation to all tested inhalant allergens; no significant relation was detected between the severity of atopic dermatitis and food allergy or food sensitisation to tested food allergens. The significant relation was observed between the late type allergic food reaction and the severity of atopic dermatitis.
Key words:
atopic dermatitis – food allergy to cow’s milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanuts – sensitisation to mites, feather, animal dander, dust – severity of atopic dermatitis – SCORAD index
