Dear Readers,
This issue is exceptional in many ways, as is the time in which we find ourselves.
First of all, we are publishing it a month later than usual, because the COVID pandemic unexpectedly affected our work and personal lives. Many authors had to stay at home, although research data were trapped in their work computers. Many of us became home teachers of our children for a few weeks. Some of us embarked on online therapies with our patients, although we usually did not have enough experience of this, but we did what we could. And some continued their work in hospital wards with face masks, shields, and litres of disinfectants. Whether going out to work, teaching our children or working online, we did our jobs. Our jobs as Speech and Language Therapists is to be “close” (albeit remotely), to listen, to help and to support. Whether circumstances are favourable for us or not.
Furthermore, this issue is unique because, for the first time, it was processed entirely in the Actavia online editorial system. This presented many challenges and often humorous situations to authors, reviewers and us editors.
The last, but very important innovation in this issue are changes in the Editorial Board and the Editorial staff. The coordinator of the Editorial Board is Assoc. Prof. Karel Neubauer and we have two new members, namely Assoc. Prof. Bibiána Hlebová from the University of Prešov and Prof. Jacek Błeszyński from the University of Toruń. The Editorial staff has been strengthened by Dr Radka Horáková and Ms. Markéta Zatloukalová
I believe that, even in these turbulent times, you will find a moment to read our Journal and that you will be pleased with this issue which deals with the topic of Speech Sound Disorders.
The December issue will be focused on the topic of Hearing and we are already looking forward to your manuscripts.
Yours sincerely,
On behalf of the editors,
Zuzana Lebedová, Editor-in-Chief
