Overview Report
Summary
The independent intervention study followed-up the efficacy of Latanoprost in 996 patients with primary open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension during three months after the beginning of the treatment. The decrease of the intraocular pressure was clinically significant at the control as early as 1 month after the beginning of the treatment, and remained stable at the control after 3 months in the patients not treated ever before as well as in patients in whom the previous treatment by means of betablockers has not compensated the intraocular pressure. Latanoprost in the study showed good safety profile and was very well tolerated by the patients. Latanoprost is appropriate first choice medication in the primary open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension treatment
