Summary

Topical therapy is the mainstay in psoriasis treatment. In moderate to severe psoriasis it represents the main therapy, in severe psoriasis the adjunctive therapy. The recent American and German guidelines are dealing beside the systemic therapy and phototherapy also with topical therapy. Because of this and on the basis of prescription survey in the Czech Republic there is a need for becoming aware of the contemporary standard of topical psoriasis therapy. In this article the principles of topical therapy are presented for plaque psoriasis in out-patient settings, where the majority of patient are treated. These recommendations were completed by an experts´ group of Czech Dermatovenerological Society on the basis of world professional literature and with respect to local traditions and usage.
