Summary
Fibroepithelioma of Pinkus was first decscribed in 1953 by Herman Pinkus as an unusual variant of basal cell carcinoma. However, until now it is not completely understood whether fibroepithelioma is a variant of basal cell carcinoma or a benign tumour of hair follicle as trichoblastoma or trichoepithelioma. Clinical features are variable. Fibroepithelioma, mostly, present as nodules, plaques, or giant pedunculated tumours. The highest incidence is noticed after age of fifty. The most frenquently affected site is the lower part of the trunk.
This article describes a case of 14-years lasting fibroepithelioma of Pinkus on the trunk in 69-ear-old woman without subjective symptoms. In the described case fibroepithelioma has been classified as a basal cell carcinoma.
