Summary
Human incidence of non-typhoid infection caused by Salmonella strains has been increasing over the last two decades in Europe and North America. The Salmonella infection belongs to common zoonoses today. Extraintestinal Salmonella infection has been observed in children rarely, though.
The authors describe the case report of a twenty-month suckling, where a diagnosis of monoarthritis of the left talocrural joint was established only after four weeks anamnesis of febrile condition of uncertain etiology. The cultivation examination of exudate from the abscess focus above the talocrural joint revealed Salmonalla enterica of the C1 serotype as the infection agent.
