Syndrome of family abused by the child in children’s obesitology outpatient’s department

Summary

On the example of a specific case report the authors draw attention to the importance of a complex multidisciplinary care, which is required for obese children in certain cases.

The case of a 12-year boy followed in the children’s obesity outpatient is presented. His obesity developed as a result of bullying and a syndrome of family abused by his aggressive brother. The problem has not been monitored in literature so far, since the affected parent or family did not alert anybody to the situation, which can result in the disorder of food intake. In case of divorce of the parents due to aggressiveness of one of them, the long-term development of relations between the remaining submissive parent and a dominant child can follow to the syndrome of abused parent or submissive remainder of the family. In the practice of children obesity research the authors repeatedly encountered the illustration of psychic as well as physical assault of the parent by his adolescent child – descendant of the aggressor in spite of his absence in the family.
