Summary
Urinary tract infections (UTI) are the second or third most common infections in pediatric age. Therefore, each pediatrician needs to be informed about the diagnosis and treatment of UTI. There are different approaches in different age groups, there are also differences in the management of the first and recurrent UTI. There exist several different national guidelines that sometimes differ considerably and no worldwide accepted guideline exists. The authors from the Working Group Pediatric Nephrology of the Czech Pediatric Society present here the Czech national Guidelines for the diagnosis UTI in children and adolescents. They present the definition, prevalence, diagnostics, treatment, prognosis and follow-up in pediatric population with urinary tract infections.
KEY WORDS:
urinary tract infections, children, adolescents, vesicoureteric reflux
