COMMUNICATION BETWEEN A UROLOGIST AND A PROSTATE CANCER PATIENT DURING PHYSICIAN CONSULTATION

Summary
This research, focusing on communication between urologist and patient, has been conducted during last year. Czech Republic has been a part of this project in cooperation with IPSEN company. The results highlight, that in Czech Republic insufficient attention is given to communication between doctor and patient. Most significant problems stem from the discrepancy in expectations between two partners. Unfulfilled expectations can be a source of mutual communication or attitudinal misunderstanding. This article deals with communication strategies between the urologist and his or hers patients. It formulates concrete recommandations for doctor–patient communication with goal of improving cooperation and patient experience including psychological status and satisfaction with medical consultation.
