Summary
Psychosomatic medicine is an interdisciplinary medical field exploring the relationships among social, psychological, and behavioral factors on bodily processes and quality of life. The aim of this review was to provide an updated definition of psychosomatic medicine and psychosomatic approach, to outline its history, its boundaries with related disciplines, situation in the world and in our country and to illustrate its main contributions to urological practice.
Psychological components can play an important role in urological complaints. Neglect of these facts can lead to insufficient or incorrect treatment.
