Summary

Penile fracture is the rupture of one or both of the tunica albuginea, the fibrous coverings that envelop the penis‘s corpora cavernosa. Diagnosis can usually be determined from a patient’s history and physical examination, but can be supplemented by a sonographic examination of the penis. In uncertain cases magnetic resonance imaging can be performed, which, if available, can display the defect in the tunica albuginea with high precision.

KEY WORDS:
Penile fracture, rupture of tunica albiginea, MRI.
