Retroperitoneal Schwannoma with Features ofGastrointestinal Schwannoma. A Case Report
Retroperitoneálny schwannóm s črtami gastrointestinálneho schwannómu.Kazuistika.
Popísaný je prípad schwannómu retroperitonea u 67-ročnej pacientky. Základnú štruktúru lézietvorili vretenovité bunky s fokálnou pseudoatypiou a bez signifikantnej mitotickej aktivity. Ďalejbola v tumore pozorovaná lymfocytárna infiltrácia, periférny lem lymfocytov, chýbanie štruktúryAntoni-A typu a chýbanie hrubostenných ciev. Ide o črty typické pre tzv. gastrointestinálny (GI)schwannóm, ktorý je považovaný za osobitnú jednotku odlišnú od konvenčného schwannómumäkkých tkanív. Autori diskutujú podobnosť lézie s GI typom schwannómu a možnosť existencieGI schwannómu v extra-GI lokalizácii.

Summary
A case of retroperitoneal schwannoma with histological features of gastrointestinal (GI) schwannomaoccurring in a 67-year-old woman is reported. The tumor was composed of spindle cells withfocal pseudoatypism and it showed several features typical of gastrointestinal-type schwannomasuch as lymphocytic infiltration, peripheral cuff of lymphocytes, lack of Antoni A pattern, andabsence of thick walled vessels. Immunohistochemically, the tumor showed diffuse reactivity forS100 protein and glial fibrillary acidic protein. The authors discuss a phenotypical similarity ofthe lesion with GI schwannoma as well as the possible existence of GI-type schwannoma outsidethe tubal GI tract.
