V článku je podán přehled o věkem podmíněné makulární degeneraci, která je dnes ve vyspělých státech příčinou těžkého postižení zraku u populace nad 50 let věku. Zmiňuje se epidemiologie, patogeneze, diagnostika, klinické rysy a současné a budoucí léčebné postupy.
