Occupational diseases reported in the Czech Republic in 2011

Summary
A total of 1,266 cases of occupation-related diseases in 1,054 workers were reported in the Czech Republic in 2011. Of these, 1,210 were occupational diseases and 56 cases were given the status of “endangerment by an occupational disease”. The incidence of occupational diseases was 30.3 cases per 100,000 health insured employees in the public sector. Most of the occupational diseases occurred in the Moravian-Silesian region (347 cases, i.e. 27.4%). Most of the recognized cases occurred in the “mining and quarrying” economic sector (190 cases, i.e. 15.0%). Carpal tunnel syndrome (392 cases, i.e. 32.4%) and contact allergic dermatitis (116 cases. i.e. 9.6%) were the most frequently reported occupational diseases. Among the cases reported as endangerment by an occupational disease, carpal tunnel syndrome predominated (43 cases, i.e. 76.8%).
