Summary
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is favourite rout of enteral nutrition support. There are different endoscopic techniques; the most widely used being the "pull" method, with a low mortality. Although is PEG considered a safe procedure, there is the potential for minor or major complications. Complications are more frequent in patients with multiple pathologies and the elderly. Awareness of these complications and aftercare of the PEG device can improve quality of care for patients with PEG. The aim of this review is describing complications and the strategies for their management.
