Summary
In the early of 21. century there is still not available an imaging diagnostic method for the diagnostic of breast cancer, which has got high sensitivity and specificity. In present the examination with mammography is the most effective diagnostic method for early detection of breast cancer. The values of sensitivity showed in the literature range within the wide intervals. In the world to the examination of breast by native mammography and ultrasonography is added also the other imaging methods. In our study in Saint Elisabeth Cancer Institute Bratislava and National Cancer Institute Bratislava, we have statisticaly found out the sensitivity and specificiy of examination with microwave radiometry and native mamography in 221 women. The sentitivity of microwave radiometry in women with breast cancer up to 20mm has been 89%, and specificity 79%. In conclusion, our study recommends to exert the complex diagnostic of breast cancer, not only native mammography, but sometimes also with mikrowaves radiometry.
Key words:
carcinoma of breast up to 20mm, native mammography, microwaves radiometry, sensitivity, specificity
