Summary
Introduction:
Retrograde ejaculation is a rare cause of male infertility. About 2 % of men are affected by it. In the case of azoospermia, it should be confi rmed or excluded by the post-ejaculatory urine test for spermatozoa. The objective of this study was to fi nd a method for the recovery and preparation of spermatozoa for in vitro fertilisation.
Material and method:
Urine was centrifuged and processed using the swim-up after urine alkalinisation, masturbation and urination.
Results:
Spermatozoa were obtained and cryopreserved from three successive collections performed in one patient. After fertilisation of 9 oocytes with the ICSI method, 2 embryos were suitable for embryotransfer.
Conclusion:
The above technique represents a chance for the recovery of spermatozoa in men with complete retrograde ejaculation.
Key words:
retrograde ejaculation – spermatozoa – azoospermia – assisted reproduction
