EMG Activity of Brachial M. Biceps and M. Triceps in Holding the Vibration Dumbbell

Summary
In the present pilot study the authors performed a comparison of EMG activity of brachial m. biceps and m. triceps in holding the vibration dumbbell with 36 Hz frequency and 1.5 kg weight and in holding the non-vibrating dumbbell of the same weight. The investigation proved 1.5 to 2.9-fold increased activity with the vibration tool as compared to non-vibrating dumbbell. Moreover, the authors verified the surface EMG as suitable method for analysis of exercise with the use of dumbbells serving as vibration sources.
