Professional voice disorders and possibilities of treatment

Summary

 Introduction: The voice is an essential tool for speech production, interpersonal communication and social interaction. Many negative factors can affect its quality. A sign of a voice disorder is a pathological change in the characteristics of the voice.

Aim: The aim of this paper is to present a case report of a patient with professional voice disorder and to present the irreplaceable role of voice rehabilitation in restoring the physiological processes of voice production.

Methods: The paper describes a case report of a 51-year-old man with professional voice impairment. Inappropriate habits and incorrect practices in voice production, their possible solutions, including the role of voice therapy and its impact on patient‘s health are described.

Results: After almost 2 years of voice rehabilitation there is an objective physiological finding on the vocal cords, with no signs of disease recurrence; there is also an improvement of voice quality according to voice 
analysis.
