Summary
Speckle tracking echocardiography offers the opportunity to track myocardial deformation independently of both cardiac translation and the insonation angle. Recently, speckle tracking echocardiography was proposed as an alternative method to assess left ventricular deformation and torsion. In this paper, we aim to explain the fundamental principles and potential clinical applicability of speckle tracking echocardiography.
Key words:
speckle tracking echocardiography - myocardial deformation - left ventricular rotation - left ventricular torsion
