Summary
Acute myocardial infarction (AIM) is a very serious, life-threatening disease. Objective: The aim of the research was to determine the quality of life of patients after AMI.
Methods: The research group included 60 respondents who were at least 6 weeks and at most 12 months after AIM. The MacNew Standard of Life after Myocardial Infarction Questionaire (QLMI) was used.
Results: 67% (40) men and 33% (20) women with the average age of 61.5 years were included in the sample. Quality of life was evaluated in domains (emotional, physical and social). The respondents rated the quality of life on average. The physical and social domains of the QLMI questionnaire depend on information about the disease before AIM. The analysis of the results proved a statistically significant dependence of the physical domain on age. The social domain was rated best by the respondents. In the area of physical performance, women achieved better results compared to men reaching. In the emotional field, men achieved better results.
Conclusion: The obtained results confirm that respondents assess the quality of life on average. Education is an integral part of patient care after AMI.
