Summary
This contribution is divided into two parts. The first one deals mainly with prevention and treatment by vitamin D considering calcium phosphate metabolism and the myoskeletal health. The next one regards broader spectrum of hitherto known effects of the active vitamin D metabolite on the prosperity of the developing organism. While the first part is characterized as a binding recommendation for pediatricians in the first line as well as for specialists in the particular subspecialties, the latter one eis rather informative. It should serve to the comprehension of new pieces of knowledge and it depends from the individual decision of the particular physician, whether he would apply the recommended scheme at his followed up child or not.
