Summary
Regarding the wide variability of metallic implants and implanted devices and safety of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) it is necessary to increase the professional awareness about its compatibility with the magnetic fields. Metallic implants and materials are often believed to be a contraindication to the examination because of the possible risk of deflexion or shift, overheating, electric current induction or artifact missinterpretation. This review deals with individual types of interactions between artificial materials and magnetic fields of MRI machines and its impact on live organisms and clinical practice.
