Summary
Clonal naevi are compound and intradermal naevocellular naevi with a focus of differently pigmented melanocytes occurring in their intradermal component. Clinically this clone looks as a darker region in a former naevus showing on dermoscopy a structureless area of blue, blue-gray, blue-black or dark brown colour. Histologically the darker area exhibits a localized group of greater epithelioid melanocytes admixed with melanophages in the intradermal component of the naevus. It is important to differentiate the clonal naevus from melanoma. Total excision with histological diagnosis is a sufficient therapy. The authors report series of cases with clonal melanocytic nevi.
Key words:
clonal naevi – combined naevi – clinical picture – dermoscopic picture – histopathologic correlation – therapy
