Summary

The paper is focused on particularity of selected sleep disorders in childhood:
insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, somnambulism and sleep terrors. Some atypical symptoms and differences in clinical picture of these disorders are emphasized in comparison with adult age, which are important in differential diagnosis of somatic and mental disorders. The paper also deals with two current classification systems of sleep disorders: International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, 10th Revision and International Classification of Sleep Disorders, 2nd Edition.
