Summary

Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) represents a serious chronic disease with typical chronic and recurrent course. The number of patiens with recurrent CDI is still growing and currently used therapeutic approaches are not always effective. We successfully cured two patients by fecal microbiota transplantation and discuss the role of fecal microbiota transplantation in the CDI treatment algorithm. Novel CDI treatments discovery, necessity of strictly rational antibiotic use and probiotic use in prevention of CDI and its recurrencies are also mentioned.
