Věkem podmíněná makulární degenerace

V souladu s trendem stárnutí populace v České republice se stává věkem podmíněná makulární degenerace významným problémem. Terminální stadia tohoto onemocnění ve většině případů vedou k velmi nízké zrakové ostrosti na úrovni praktické slepoty, což představuje významný socio-ekonomický problém. Podle posledních údajů postihuje až 30 % pacientů starších 75 let. Snahou všech terapeutických postupů, jejichž rozmach jsme v posledních 25 letech zažili, je tedy zajistit našim pacientům postiženým věkem podmíněnou makulární degenerací použitelnou zrakovou ostrost na co nejdelší dobu.

Overview

Along with the ageing of the population in Czech Republic, the age-related macular degeneration becomes a serious problem. Terminal stages of this disease lead to very low visual acuity close to the practical blindness which becomes an important socioeconomic problem. Age-related macular degeneration affects 30 % patients older than 75 years. The effort of all therapeutic procedures developed in the last 25 years is to guarantee to patients with age-related macular degeneration prolongation of the effective visual acuity.
