Summary
The case study describes the form of transient changes in the morphosyntactic structure of the language processing system, manifested both in spontaneous (contextually anchored) speech production and in specific linguistically oriented (decontextualized) tasks aimed at stimulation of speech production in a patient after resection of tumour in the temporoparietal region of the linguistically dominant hemisphere. The presence of the agrammatism in speech production due to damage to areas other than Broca’s are in line with current models of language processing in the neurocognitive network of the human brain. An important aspect of these concepts is the principle of multifunctional connectivity of a whole range of cortical and subcortical areas, which is in contrast to the traditional localizationistic (Wernicke-Lichtheim) concept of language processing.
