Summary
The article focuses on the issue of verification of scabies conditions for the purpose of occupational disease assessment. Scabies can be classified under item 1 or 3 in Chapter V of the Annex to Government Regulation No. 290/1995 Coll., establishing the list of Occupational Diseases, as amended. In order for an occupational disease to be recognised in the Czech Republic, it is necessary that the disease, which can be classified under one of the headings of the valid list of occupational diseases, has been properly diagnosed and that at the same time the conditions for the occurrence of the disease as set out in the list of occupational diseases have been met.
A case report is described in which the clinical criteria for recognising of an occupational disease were met, but the verification of the conditions for the onset of the disease (the so-called hygiene criteria) was not initially correctly assessed. The case was dealt with in the context of a request for review of a medical opinion on the non-recognition of an occupational disease.
