Summary
Spontaneous rupture of a macroscopically intact carotid artery is extremely rare but life threatening pathology. We present a case of an enormous neck infiltration caused by a massive hematoma due to a spontaneous carotid rupture. This acute situation had to be urgently managed with intratracheal intubation followed by surgical treatment.
