Summary

Acute rhinosinusitis is a common disease that is associated not only with a considerable reduction of the quality of life, but also with a significant socio-economic impact on society. For many decades the diagnosis of acute rhinosinusitis was based on a combination of history, clinical examination and plain radiography. Particularly for its insensitivity a routine radiographic examination is not recommended by the current guidelines in this indication anymore. This paper aims to analyze literary sources regarding sinus radiography in ARS, which are quoted in EPOS documents and try to define the value and possible indications for this examination in rhinosinusitis patients today.
