Summary
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a novel approach used for treatment of various disorders of musculoskeletal system. Its application range is very wide and includes tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, degenerative recalcitrant processes /heel spur, calcifying tendonitis of rotator cuff/ and bone non-unions in adults. In this review, authors describe physical aspect of shockwave therapy, its brief history, methods of use, indications, contraindications and suggested application procedures for certain musculoskeletal system disorders.
