Summary

Hippotherapy is a supplementary therapeutic method, which uses natural movements and qualities of horse in patients with various health disorders. Hippotherapy enjoys considerable interest of the public equally well as various other sc. alternative methods. However, equally to other methods hippotherapy has not so far proved sufficient power demonstrating the real therapeutic effect. Moreover, hippotherapy threatens to become a real damage to the patient. The authors summarize present opinions and experience, positive and negative aspects of hippotherapy in this as well as other countries.
