Summary
Photoacoustic tomography is a new biomedical imaging method based on photoacoustic phenomenon already described in 1880 by G. Bell. In the present experimental form represents a hybrid method, combining optical and ultrasonic imaging. The algorithm of photoacoustic imaging procedure includes 3 basic steps: generating an electromagnetic pulse in the visible or infrared spectrum, exploring of photoacoustic signals and tomographic image formation. Based on literature data are examples of practical applications.
