Summary

INTRODUCTION:
Alcohol intoxication is the commonest cause of unconsciousness among adult patients admitted to hospital. The care of inebriated patients is not only unpleasant but also expensive.

METHODS:
We compared monthly costs necessary to care of patients under the influence of alcohol with head injury in two small hospitals – located in South Moravia and Walachien, Břeclav a Vsetín.

RESULTS:
In Břeclav was treated 22 patients and spent 86 313, Kč, in Vsetin was treated 33 patients and spent 124 844, Kč. Is seems that slivovitz is more dengerous than wine.

CONCLUSION:
This whole study should just point out the expenses, which are required for the treatement of alcohol intoxicated injured. They are usually frequent visitor of surgery ambulace, they are rude, agresive and often refusing our help.
