Summary
OBJECTIVE:
Compartment syndrome with its consequences requires a long period of time in patient management. There is no doubts about semence of diagnosis and therapy of acute phase and tratment. In the first place is early indications and timely implementation of sufficient fasciotomy. There is a new method for accelerating wound closure in a shorter period of time with linear sutures without secondary plastics solutions.
METHOD:
This is a retrospective study and evaluation of patients with limb compartment syndrome, the use of vacuum therapy , indicating two case reports.
Since 2009 we treated 51 patients with limb compartment syndrome. In 25 patients (M 22 , F 3), we used a vacuum therapy. In a group of 25 patients there were 20 cases of compartment syndrome of the lower leg, 3 cases of KS thighs and 2 cases of KS forearm, of which 1 was simultaneously compartment syndrome in the arm.
The use of vacuum therapy in the treatment of incisions of fasciotomy on the legs, significantly reduces length of hospital stay, reduces the risk of nosocomial infections, reduces bacterial clearance and allows primary wound closure with sutures without the use of plastic performance.
Key words:
compartment syndrome, vacuum therapy, fasciotomi.
