Summary
We describe the history, indication and methods of physical training in patients with heart failure. Physical training does not negatively influence haemodynamic or echocardiographic parameters; on the contrary, it improves the patients’ functional capacity, quality of life and neurohumoral response. A meta-analysis of patients with regular rehabilitation and a HF-ACTION multicentric clinical trial confirmed a positive influence of training on the prognosis. The adherence of the patients is probably the strongest limitation.
Keywords:
chronic heart failure – physical training – functional capability – adherence
