Summary
The paper reviews the key elements in the interaction between depression and low back pain (LBP). Available literature emphasizes the importance of early screening diagnosis of depression among patients with LBP. Active screening and subsequent therapeutic interventions help to prevent progression into chronic LBP. Comprehensive management of patients with LBP and depression should include specific therapeutic programs.
Key words:
depression – LBP – comorbidity – screening – therapy
