Summary
Factors influencing using of drugs were assessed in 2 groups of patients hospitalised at geriatric department. In the first group A, there were 128 patients with the average age 80.1 years; in the group B 201 patients with the average age 81.7 years. Multimorbidity was very frequent, we have found 10.6 diagnosis in a patient. Polypharmacy was also very frequent, 163 (81.1%) of patients in the group B used more than five drugs. Inappropriate drugs (according do Beers list) were used in the group A by 29 (22.6%) patients and by 36 (17.9%) patients. In the group B. The most frequent used drug in this group was ticlopidin. Increased levels of creatinine were found in 55.5% of patients and 29.4% od the patients had chonic renal insufficiency. Hypalbuminaemia was found in 78% of patients. Dementia was present in 34.7%, resp 37.8% of patients. 3%, resp. 3.9% of patients were blind and 8,9% patients were deaf. Parkinsonism was present in 12.9% patients and 4.5% of patients had dysphagia. Impaired hand mobility was found in 3.1% of patients. Factors influencing using of drugs are in the aging very frequent and we should pay attention, because they might influenced the effect of drugs.
Key words:
pharmocotherapy – geriatrics – drugs – dementia – hypalbuminaemia – senzoric disorders – inappropriate drugs
