Summary
A short intervention techniques are most often mentioned in relation to the problems caused by alkohol and tobacco. There exists much evidence of their effectiveness. A short intervention can be used for other problems associated with psychoactive substances in pathological gambling and other areas of medicine. With some exaggeration we can say that much of chat the doctor is doing, the character of short intervention. It is largely in the minimum amount of time trying to achieve maximum effect.
An important element in short intervention are self-help procedures. In the case of incipient problems can be their use a very effective, even of more effective than a more thorough treatment given later.
