Summary
Arterial hypertension is one of the most frequent cardiovascular diseases which are the cause of increased cardiovascular and cerebrovascular morbidity and mortality. This diagnosis is especially common in the population of elderly people. In the age cohort of 65 years and older, hypertension affects more than 60 % of the people. Selected issues in the area of hypertension diagnosis and management are presented in the Q&A format.
Key words:
arterial hypertension – blood pressure variability – old age – dippers – non dippers
