Fever as a frequent symptome

Summary
The review explains pathophysiological consequences of fever, the importance of fever for human body and the influence of fever on organ systems. Possible aetiology of fever is analysed – infections, tumours and systemic diseases as more frequent causes and fever as an unwanted side effect of medications or fever of unknown origin as a rare situations. The algorithm of fever diagnostics is described at the end of the article.
