Summary
The authors present an overview of changes associated with the ageing process from the point of view of glomerular function, tubular chances and other related issues, especially in terms of fluid balance and mineral metabolism. The subchapter about renal failure emphasises the significantly higher occurrence of renal failure and its complex impact on the overall care in seniors. Various aspects of haemodialysis in seniors are considered. The closing part is dedicated to influencing pharmacotherapeutic considerations in multimorbid seniors with diminishing renal function.
