Summary
This article is a continuation of the studies done by physiotherapists Jurová et al. (53, 54) and Mahrová et al. (83) that were published in 2009. It provides a comprehensive overview of the stages of chronic kidney failure and treatment options, especially instrumentation treatment and nonpharmacological treatment to all physiotherapeutic public. It presents an overview of previously described disorders of the musculoskeletal system and causes of limited functional physical and mental fitness of dialysis and transplant patients to readers and it discusses options of non-pharmacological treatment especially by exercise in the field of physiotherapy. As an example, we supplement the theoretical overview with the case of a patient after kidney transplantation with proposals of physiotherapeutic intervention.
The aim of this overwiev is to build on a studies that integrate an exercise therapy within the field of physiotherapy, as an integral part of the comprehensive treatment of patients with end-stage renal disease on dialysis therapy and after kidney transplantation.
