Summary
Aim: Accumulating data suggest that yoga contributes to improved cancer survival and treatment. The aim of this review is to describe the current state of the medical literature on this topic. Methods: A narrative review of the current literature, including clinical trials, randomized control trials, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews, addressing the benefits of yoga for patients during and after cancer treatment. Results: As the most commonly used mind-body method, yoga therapy has been extensively studied in cancer patients and survivors. Yoga affects human physiology on multiple levels. Studies show that yoga reduces psychological stress and fatigue, improves sleep and quality of life in cancer patients and survivors. Conclusion: As part of a holistic approach to cancer patient care, yoga is a beneficial, inexpensive method that promotes the health of patients and survivors.
