Summary
Fifteen years of paediatric reconstructive laparoscopy of the upper urinary tract in children has changed significantly the conventional surgical approach to these anomalies. Surgery is performed through the abdominal cavity or retroperitoneoscopically. The benefit of laparoscopy in comparison with the open surgery is obvious in older children, it remains under discussion in infants. In small children, the laparoscopic magnification can improve the highly microscopic principles, for instance in heminephroureterectomy. In spite of a long learning curve, further dissemination of this method can be expected together with technical progress. This article addresses technical aspects of the frequently used operations in children.
Key words:
laparoscopy in children, laparoscopic pyeloplasty, laparoscopic heminephroureterectomy, laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, laparoscopic antireflux reimplantation
