Summary

With the rising incidence of incidentally discovered small renal tumors, active surveillance with delayed intervention is a viable option for management of these tumors. We review the rational for active surveillance including evaluation of the epidemiology of these tumors and a review of the literature regarding small renal masses. We review criteria for eligibility for active surveillance of small renal masses.

Key words:
renal masses, active surveillance, renal cell carcinoma
