Summary
The author of this review deals with the issue of localized renal carcinoma in patients undergoing surgical treatment. He outlines some of the prognostic factors – standard clinical and patological features used in clinical practice (symptomatology, TNM clasification, histopatological grade, microvascular invasion) and also some new molecular biological markers currently under investigation (HIF-1α, VEGF, Ki67, p53, CXCR 3, MMP 2, MMP 9, IMP 3). He also deals with the role of DNA microchip technologies in renal tumours research.
Key words:
