Summary

The implementation of RFID technology in the process of prescription, preparation and administration of chemotherapy increases the safety of this process on the side of both the patient and attending healthcare personnel. The system enables a multiple and retrospective control of the constitution of the prepared medication as well as of the particular steps of the process. The human factor in the process of preparation and administration of chemotherapy is reduced due to this technology, thus avoiding possible errors. RFID technology is integrated with three different information systems that cover the individual phases of the process – prescription, preparation and administration. These systems exchange information and store the obtained data that are available for statistical evaluation.
