Summary
A total of 1,099 cases of occupation-related diseases in 911 workers were reported in the Czech Republic in 2012. Of these, 1,042 were occupational diseases and 57 cases were given the status of “endangerment by an occupational disease”. The incidence of occupational diseases was 24.6 cases per 100,000 health insured employees in the public sector. Most of the occupational diseases occurred in the Moravian-Silesian region (314 ca-ses, i.e. 28.6%). Most of the recognized cases occurred in the “mining and quarrying” economic sector (194 cases, i.e. 17.7%). Carpal tunnel syndrome (330 cases, i.e. 31.7%) and contact allergic dermatitis (93 cases, i.e. 8.9%) were the most frequently reported occupational diseases. Among the cases reported as endangerment by an occupational disease, carpal tunnel syndrome predominated (40 ca-ses, i.e. 70.2%).
